Follow the Wemo instructions to configure the device. Since the Wemo is hip and trendy, you have to do that from a mobile device, after you have installed the Wemo app.
Plug the Wemo into a receptacle, and then plug your cable modem into the Wemo. Verify you can turn the cable modem on and off from the Wemo app.
